As we enjoy the end of the heatwave here in Bigbury on-Sea, it’s been great seeing so many of you getting in sea catching waves, stand up paddling around the island or kayaking in the bay. Here at Discovery we are full steam ahead into our main season and have been busy teaching hundreds of school children on their enrichment weeks, coaching the up and coming groms with our Surf Clubs, and introducing a whole host of holiday makers and locals to their first surfing and paddleboarding experiences. Martin has also been running a couple of Surf Instructor workshops, training up the next generation of coaches.

It’s been tremendous having so many language students back surfing with us as well - we’ve had teenagers from across Europe perfecting their English as well as their surfing skills!

We were very proud to again be awarded the Trip Advisor Traveller’s Choice again for 2022 - it is a reflection of the dedication, hard work and general commitment from our team to deliver the best possible service.

Our shop at Bigbury on-Sea, next to the Venus Cafe is open all day everyday, and from here you can make enquiries and hire equipment. We are also very happy to offer advice if you’re not sure about anything surf school related, the team are a friendly and knowledgable bunch!  On hot/calm days we will also have our beach trailer up and running and you can hire kit right next to the water from here. If you are looking to buy your own kit, we do have some ex-hire kayaks for sale on our website too so have a look. 

In the school holidays we have loads of lessons available - something to suit everyone, from private lessons, family lessons, group lessons, and children’s surf courses.  Please get in touch with us to get more information about these. 

Our Surf Club kids can also enjoy some one off sessions that we’ve scheduled on a few days over the holidays. Our next Surf Club courses will be available from September, and we’ll be updating dates for them soon.  We enjoyed a Surf Club Social recently, and we were lucky to have dry albeit windy day to get the bbq on and meet and catch up with parents and children from across all of our clubs.
