BANTHAM

Discovery Surf School can now offer surf lessons and equipment hire at 2 locations - on both sides of the River Avon at Bigbury on-Sea & Bantham. From May 2025 we're now also operating at Bantham beach.

Discovery has a long history at Bantham, as over 20 years ago when we first started the business, we delivered our very first South Devon surf lessons here. Martin also learned to surf at Bantham as a young teenager and Annika's Dad Barry Trout was one of the pioneering surfers here back in the 1960’s.  

Bantham is considered the most consistent surf break in South Devon (and one of the best surf breaks in the UK!) We are delighted to offer our customers a friendly high quality service, with an emphasis on learning and developing surf skills in a safe and fun environment.

We have very experienced and supportive staff who will teach you in small ratio groups with top quality equipment, in a unique environment flanked by beautiful sand dunes and with the back drop of the iconic Burgh Island.

You can find the team in the Bantham Beach carpark, where we can take bookings, we will meet and greet you for surf lessons, offer you equipment hire and give you advice about the best times and parts of the beach to get out on the water.

We are open everyday throughout the main season (subject to suitable conditions), so if you come down and find we're not there please drop us call or text and we can assist you how we can. We update our 'Whats On' page most days, so check it out.
